To mark the 30th birthday of IKEA’s most recognisable and affordable KLIPPAN sofa (RRP: $229), a selection of acclaimed Australian artists have created a one-off KLIPPAN cover in their own style, focusing on the theme of ‘home\’, which are being auctioned off right now!

Two time Academy Award winner Catherine Martin, Australian fashion icon Akira Isogawa, and Archibald Prize winner Del Kathryn Barton in collaboration with fashion label Romance Was Born have contributed to this exciting initiative.

There are a stack of additional artists on board and all proceeds of the auction will be given as a cash donation to The Victorian Bushfire Appeal through The Salvation Army.  This project builds on IKEA\’s pledge to support communities affected by the Victorian bushfires – in February this year, IKEA donated $1M of product to aid the recovery process.

If you are in Sydney you can view the sofa’s at CarriageWorks, Wilson Street, Eveleigh (corner of Codrington Street) otherwise there’s a stack of information and pictures about the project at IKEA and on Tumblr.

The online auction starts today and will run through to Tuesday 4th August, if you want to bid on a sofa, go to Grays Online and get bidding.
