Mermaid Delight

My friend Amanda Cole and I love our mermaids, in particular we love Obelia who plays off the beach where we live in Coogee.

The thing that I really really love about the addictiveness of the online world is that trends show themselves that sometimes don’t make it to the offline world or if they do not in the same way as the online world.

But Mermaids are crossing over into the offline world – yay!  Pop star Mika is releasing a book with illustrations by fashion designers including Lanvin‘s Alber Elbaz. And what did he choose to draw, a very glamboyant Mermaid! [WWD]

And do you have any idea how cute Alber is?  I love him, you just want to pick him up and pop him in your pocket and take him home to cuddle forever!

But back to Mermaids … so we saw earlier this year that Paris Hilton had morphed into a mermaid when she released her latest fragrance Siren, and last week Thom Browne showed a warrior-mermaid–inspired spring 2010 collection.  And nifty tights company Bebaroque sent out an invitation to view their “Married to a Mermaid” spring 2010 collection.

Mermaids 2

Are you as excited as me about this mythical trend making a splash?
