Last week I trotted off to the Newmarket Stables at Randwick with my fashionable friends Donny Galella and Faye DeLanty for a day of fun and frivolity celebrating the Race that Stops the Nation, Melbourne Cup. I felt so glamorous with my specially made head piece handmade by Donny, it was the hottest day hitting 39 degrees but we had lots of fun regardless.
The Inglis family kindly opened their amazing home (Inglis Newmarket Stables) to support the launch of Cure for Kids Cup and to celebrate the Melbourne Cup. Thank you :-) We walked down the longest red carpet to be met by six thoroughbred horses – very Inglis fancy!
Notable appearances excluding ourselves (hehe) included Andrew G, Penne Dennison, Callan Mulvey, Steve Bisley, Peter Phelps, Heidi Houghting, Kip Gamblin, Carolyn Dodds (CEO of Cure our Kids), Charlotte and Arthur Inglis (Inglis Thoroughbred Auctioneers),the Hi-5 team, Casey Burgess, Fely Irvine, Lauren Brant, Tim Maddren, Stevie Nicholson; along with MC Bianca Dye.
The Newmarket Stables had portable bar set up in the horse run and the powder room in one of the old historic Stables. Our tables were supplied with bags filled with recycled garbage for the Fashion on the Field hat making contest judged by my Fashionable Stylist Donny – Faye’s and my effort at making our hat was a clear winner but Donny said he couldn’t be seen to be biased so didn’t select us as the winners! Hmpf!
Once the racing day finished, we hit Kit & Kaboodle Supper Club and to celebrate Donny’s very last Spring Carnival creating hats and headwear – how special was I then to get my own headpiece for his last Spring Carnival?
With drinks and nibblies on arrival, and prizes for best dressed, mixed with fabulous music all night long it was definitely a giddy up day!
The highlight of my day was meeting my TV Crush, Callan Mulvey aka Josh from RUSH! He’s a darling and as handsome and gorgeous in real life! Take me home and handcuff me please officer! 🙂
