Micah Wilkins is a Liar.
But when Micah\’s boyfriend, Zach, dies under brutal circumstances, the shock might be enough to set her straight. Or maybe not.
Especially when lying comes as naturally to her as breathing. Was Micah dating Zach? Did they kiss? Did she see him the night he died? And is she really hiding a family secret? Where does the actual truth lie?
Justine Larbalestier\’s novel, Liar, is a gripping mystery that will have you flying through the pages, in a crazy attempt to find the truth.
From page one, I was hooked. By the middle, there was no stopping me – I just had to find out – who and what Micah was, what really happened to Zach, and what was the honest truth.
At the very start, Micah will tell you that she will be truthful in her narrative, though, a third of the way through, you will begin to understand that her version of the truth, does not always correspond with the norm.
The story jumps between, before and after the event, with a bit of family history intertwined. Usually, I might say that such a narrative could be confusing and possibly off-putting, but Larbalestier does it in such a way, that you can only think it helps the story unfold more seamlessly and creates a more suspenseful read.
Exciting, enthralling, gripping and suspenseful, Liar is a story that will have you questioning everything, until you no longer know where the lies end and the truth begins. It is a fascinating read that sparks of originality, and will take readers deep into the mind of a consistent liar.
I will tell you the truth. Trust me.
