During Rihanna’s short visit to Australia a few weeks ago, we will now start to see her popping up in photoshoots and interviews. Rihanna is holding fierce on the front cover of the Sunday Telegraph’s Sunday Magazine insert for today 21st March 2010.
Photographed by Georges Antoni and styled by Inez Garcia, Rhianna looks fiercely sexy inside, entitled “Girl About Town” we see Rihanna wearing local labels Sass & Bide on the front cover, Dion Lee jacket and Lisa Marie Fernandez swimsuit inside.
Inside we learn Rihanna and her team kept the Sunday team waiting for four hours, she was only in Sydney for a 72-hour promo tour, but she came along with a huge entourage. She shared with Claire Bradley that “I couldn’t just give them [my fans] ordinary pop songs”, it was important to her that the new album showed depth and what was going through her head after the Chris Brown nightmare.
And Rihanna finds it hard being a role model particularly after the controversial holiday reunion in Miami with Chris Brown, she states: “Most people define a role model as someone who’s perfect, who doesn’t anything wrong, but that’s not human, it’s definitely not rockstar – and that’s what I am.”
As a society we do need to look at who and why we define people as role models and why we get disappointed when they let us down, because that’s not real either, how can they let us down? But Rihanna has come through her painful period and she’s standing strong now.
We can look forward to seeing Rihanna on our fair shores again in October for her tour!
