Cynthia Rowley for Roxy launches in Australia

Surf Brand Roxy (under the umbrella of Quicksilver) is excited to announce the Australian launch of Cynthia Rowley for Roxy, a design collaboration with the US based designer inspired by a shared love for surf, sun and fashion.

The idea came about when iconic American designer Cynthia Rowley met Roxy Executive Vice President of Marketing Randy Hild on the beach in Montauk. An avid surfer, Rowley spends her weekends on the waves with her family every summer.

“The most important thing as a designer is to tell a story, and everything we do contributes to the story,” says Rowley. “This is an authentic and genuine expression of my passion for the surf lifestyle.”

The partnership will continue over the next year as both brands push the envelope on mixing function and design. “Our mission at Roxy has always been to have one foot in the surf world and the other foot in the fashion world,” says Hild.

The collection adds fashion to functional pieces like wetsuits and lends function to fashion pieces such as neoprene ballet flats. Consisting of 40 pieces of sportswear, swim and accessories, the Cynthia Rowley for Roxy Collection is designed to be everything you need tossed into a canvas duffle for a weekend getaway.

Highlights of the collection include a neoprene pencil skirt, oversized, double-knit hoodie, neoprene ballet flats, a neoprene short wet suit and leather sandals with giant silk tassels.

The models in the campaign imagery are both Aussies, Sally Fitzgibbons and Laura Enever.  I am interviewing these girls for a separate post, so stay tuned.

Brief Bios:

Sally Fitzgibbons\’ short career has been a career of firsts! At just 19 years of age, Sally, from the lazy NSW town of Gerroa, has transformed herself from an all-round track and field star, touch football representative and star soccer player to a dedicated full-time surf star.

Laura Enever, 18, from the world renowned surfing hot-bed of North Narrabeen on Sydney\’s Northern Beaches, has been a proud member of the Roxy family since she was a teen.  It\’s not every day Vanity Fair comes knocking at your door to include you in a photo shoot.

The Cynthia Rowley for Roxy Collection is available now with retail prices ranging from $56 to $230. In addition to being stocked in David Jones, items will also be available at Roxy stores.

I’m heading to the David Jones/Roxy launch party at Icebergs on the 29th April with Cynthia Rowley herself in attendance, excitement!
