Preparations are under way for the ball of the century. But as any true Blue Blood knows, it’s the after-party that counts. And the cunning Mimi Force is getting ready to make sure her masquerade ball is the place to be for the Young, Fabulous and Fanged.
But Schuyler Van Alen has more on her mind than fancy dresses, even if her crush Jack Force is sure to make an appearance. She’s getting closer to finding out what’s been preying on the young vamps – and discovering the deadly secrets hiding under the masks…
The second novel in the Blue Blood series, by Melissa de la Cruz, is Masquerade. And may I just start by saying it was well worth the read. After reading the first book in the series, I was a little undecided about the plotline and the characters, but after continuing on with the second novel, I am very pleased to say, it is miles and leaps better, as the characters are more developed and the plotline is stronger.
At times Cruz does seem to skim the background and basics a bit, though truthfully it does not greatly impinge on the story – some may even be glad of it – as it means more time spent on the characters.
With the introduction of Schuyler\’s ‘grandfather\’ Lawrence, Cruz spins the story in a more pleasing, yet less expected angle. There is still plenty of glamour, cunning, love and desire, but now there is an added mix of mystery, adventure and even a bit of betrayal. Fabulous.
Picking up from where Blue Bloods left off, Masquerade is bound to be a favourite. Taking readers from Venice to New York, Masquerade delves into the lives of the young, fabulous and fanged – creating an intoxicating mix of blood, love, lust and glamour.
Get ready for the ball of the century& it\’s to die for.
