I was chuffed to be invited to Garance Dore’s “Winter with Westfield” Fashion Illustration Launch at Westfield Bondi Junction on Wednesday (sorry, I didn’t post yesterday, horrible day boo!). Just quickly, for those that aren’t aware of Garance Dore, Garance is a multi-talented illustrator, photographer, and blogger and has had a quick rise to the top to become a ‘celebrity blogger’. Her partner is also The Sartorialist, Scott Schumann!
We were all there to launch her beautiful Fashion Illustrations commissioned by Westfield featuring seven Australian Designers, Zimmerman, Gorman, Thurley, Bettina Liano, Arthur Galan, Leona Edminston & Country Road. Leona Edminston and Bettina Liano were in attendance (photo below).
I loved meeting Garance, she’s petite, stylish and so lovely and down to earth and I absolutely adored her frankness (I am known for being frank, so I love it when I meet another like-minded).
Garance did a Q&A with our own Queen of Fashion (journo and blogger) Patty Huttington from Frockwriter. It as an awesome Q&A and one of the things that Garance touched on that really resonated with me was that our blogs are our blogs and it is up to us what we put on our blogs, we aren’t there to be friends with everyone, we are professionals too. It resonated with me strongly because at the moment I am trying to please everyone and I’m exhausted and I do find it really hard to find the balance.
You can also head over to Sassybella to watch her video she took of Patty’s Q&A with Garance and there’s an interesting interview by Georgina Robinson from SMH you might like to read. And importantly Garance’s illustrations are currently on show at Westfield Bondi Junction and Westfield Doncaster until 23 May.
