I’m very excited and very nervous heading off to my very first Australian Fashion Week, starting tomorrow 3rd May through to 7th May. My start to RAFW as it’s called started today, Sunday, with a trip down to the Overseas Passenger Terminal (aka OPT) to pick up my media accreditation and the “Marking of the Spot” …
OMG, I cannot begin to describe this process to you but let me tell you there are no manners involved. Marking your spot means literally marking your spot with a piece of paper, tape and your name stuck to the floor of the Media Pit. It’s primarily male and they literally shove you out of the way and race to beat you to the best spots. Seriously!
And then this afternoon, my friend Patty Huntington kindly mentioned me in her blog post today and in a blink of an eye I received my first public snarky comment! So that means I’ve ‘made it’ when people start publicly snarking you, so I’m flattered :-) But what the post was actually about was notifying Patty’s readers about ABC Nation’s show tonight talking about Bloggers and we’re all on the countdown to the start of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week!
I have absolutely no idea how I’m going to go, how much I’m going to be able to blog, what my photos are going to look like, how crazy it’s going to be but I’ll do my best to get images and information to you. I have some backstage and front stage invites and first up tomorrow (Monday) Backstage with MAC Cosmetics for Seventh Wonderland!
I’m looking forward to meeting my fellow bloggers and just enjoying the experience, as you know I’m not big on reporting runway fashions, I love my glossies and ad campaigns but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to enjoy this new experience and have fun.
Wish me luck and I’ll blog as much as I can including as much gossip as I can.
As always, thanks for supporting me, I appreciate it.
