Rachel Gilbert at Australian Fashion Week 2010

I trotted into the Rachel Gilbert show today and it was right up my alley, I loved it!  Rachel Gilbert’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection was bursting with her signature style of luxurious but wearable ready-to-wear evening designs.

Luxurious fabrics, embellishments, strapless, one shoulder, two shoulders, cut outs, lots of frills, flounces and ruffles and oodles of of sequins, so sparkly!  The colours were a mix of sorbet pastels and brights including bright pink that I just adored.

There were so many styles I loved but a standout was definitely the wedding-style white gown with layers of big ruffles, and the above bright pink one shouldered ruffle dress … to me the collection was so wearable, so pretty, so feminine, so sexy!!

Oh, the shoes, OMG the shoes … Kings-Cross inspired Perspex platform (Underbelly glamour) … check them out below in the gallery!

Sitting front-row we saw April Rose Pengilly, the adorable Maude Garrett, goddess Nikki Phillips and Annalise Braakensiek and walking the show were internationally based Aussie models Tallulah Morton and Sarah Stephens as well as my home favourite Samantha Harris.

The gorgeous Yaz Turker from PRIMPED got the lowdown backstage on Napoleon Perdis‘ make up inspiration for the show and it was all about the BIG BROWS and soft pink lipstick, inspired by Elizabeth Taylor, you can check out her step-by-step post on how you can get the BIG BROWs channeling Lizzie Taylor too!  And we’re seeing lots of buns on the runways, (and red carpets too) so clearly the bun is making a big comeback!

I do have a video of the end of Rachel’s show but it’s not finished uploading yet and it’s taking forever, so will embed when it finishes.

As promised, here’s my video of the ending of Rachel’s show and boo hoo I ran out of memory, sorry!
