I was so lucky to be backstage last night for Alex Perry’s much anticipated Spring/Summer 2010 reveal at Fox Studios for Australian Fashion Week and boy oh boy, what an extravaganza it was and I felt so privileged to have been invited.
Alex Perry was so extravagant and I believe it’s the biggest show we’ve seen at any Australian Fashion Week (15 years remember). We had 35 models, 50 outfits, 1300 guests and the runway was 1300 metres long … I was very concerned for the girls walking that far in their 10 inch heels but they all made it safely … the theme for the evening was “Make Me A Princess“.
So that meant there were also 35 models to be made up backstage for hair and make up. Poor Napoleon was getting tired from being on his feet all day but he was a storm trooper doing stacks of media interviews including one for us below.
It was hilarious when the glamboyant Erica Heynatz burst onto the scene backstage, the poor girl was struggling to get her dress zipped up and the media just packed around her trying to get photos, no personal space here. As you can see from my photo I got of her AFTER she was dressed she looked absolutely stunning.
The model’s make up was very extravagant with a touch of shimmer, shadow and lots of chutzpah to create the night-time glamour look. Their eyes were lined in black kohl and embellished with a dramatic metallic charcoal that extends to the temples. A glint of silver placed strategically in the eye socket updates the smokey eye look. Luminous skin, soft pink lips and insouciant attitude completed the funky, slightly futuristic look.
I continue to stalk Samantha Harris backstage and I’m also stalking a lovely new model from Chic, Juliana Forge.
Napoleon used on their lips the NP Set Lipstick in San Francisco and the Luminous Lip Veil In the Flesh, for the bhe used China Doll Eyeliner in Earth, Eyes included; China Doll Eyeliner in Equinox, Color Disc #29 Black, Cheek to Chic Blush Duo #4 and upcoming, the new Napoleon Perdis Color Disc in Black Sparkle and new Napoleon Perdis silver glitter tube and to top it off Loose Dust #39 Techno Glitter.
The gallery is huge I know but I wanted you to see as many images from the night as possible.
My interview with Napoleon, I’m getting better but still have a ways to go 🙂
And that’s it, I had such a great evening and was blown away by it all, Alex has definitely out done himself and set a huge benchmark for putting on an extravaganza at Australian Fashion Week. We still have Ksubi doing the final show and it’s rumoured to be huge as well.
Thank you once again to Napoleon and of course Alex Perry.
