Wednesday was the triumphant return of Alice McCall to Australian Fashion Week, and it went off with a bang with “The Accordian Girls” strutting out on a tapestry carpet runway in quirky, arty and very cool outfits for Alice’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. We saw pretty embroidered shorts, midriff-baring tops, knitted dresses, plunging necklines, with Tallaluh Morton rocking a gorgeous silk jumpsuit. And I loved the tapestry dress that came out matching the runway!
The Accordian Girl is part of the art scene where her friends are artists and film makers , she hangs out with them by day at street cafes in Paris, but then by night she is off again &.playing with “The Accordian Girls.”
And Alice has achieved that look perfectly with this collection. You know I really love everything girlie and this collection has enough girlieness for me but balanced with a touch of arty edginess for those that aren’t as girlie as me.
End of show video:
After the show, I went backstage and to Alice’s after-show get together, enjoyed chatting up a storm with the hilarious Maude Garrett and incredibly glamboyant Nikki Phillips, both of them so down to earth and fun. I also got a great interview with Jamal Hammadi as the Sunsilk Co-Creations hair expert on-site talking about the hair & make up that was created for the show by MAC Cosmetics and Sunsilk style team. Sunsilk used SunSilk Addictive Brilliant Shine Wax and SunSilk Hold Spray to achieve the gypsy like casual hairstyles. MAC hand painted neon MAC pigments to get the colourful butterfly effect on the girl’s faces.
All in all, an awesome show!
