Sadly, yesterday was an absolute disaster for me and I didn’t make any shows on the final day of Australian Fashion Week, to say I was disappointed is an understatement and I’m not going to bore you with the details why.
Ksubi closed Rosemount Australian Fashion Week at the Royal Hall of Industries and although I wasn’t there I am posting photos from the show because it was a very much anticipated Spring/Summer 2010 collection, dubbed their comeback show after they went into voluntary administration last year.
The Spring/Summer 2010 collection is entitled “One Via Zero” and to help with the collection, co-founders George Gorrow and Dan Single engaged renowned stylist Brana Wolf to consult on the collection.
There was lots and lots of denim which we know is a big trend and I saw a cheeky tee with a rat on it which I’m sure is a play at the controversy from years ago of running rats down the catwalk!
The New Zealand Herald reports (I don’t have any press info, sorry), “there were two parts – part one showcased Stretton’s ‘chameleon’ range which features garments that can be worn ten different ways. The usual Annah Stretton signatures; prints, fabric, wraps and layering.
Next up was the main Stop the Slaughter collection, which was inspired in part by animal activist Brigitte Bardot – whose face was projected as the backdrop. Think gingham, full skirted silhouettes, neutrals, lingerie detailing, a lot of sheer and chiffon fabric and lots of romper suits; the latter of which I’m not entirely convinced real women actually want to wear. The hair pieces in the model’s hair were cute: little animal figurines covered in hair; very Lady Gaga.”
I’m looking forward to seeing what Patty Huntington thought, so as soon as she updates her blog I’ll link to it.
I’ve also added some overview photos of the venue, and just look at how many people there were, the show is massive. I’ve also included a media pit photo so you can see how crazy it gets, some backstage pics and of course some Red Carpet Arrivals and of course the glamboyant Lara Bingle was there in a plunging structured jacket by Josh Goot which I just adore !
What do you think of the new collection?
