Aussie celebrity snapper Darren Tieste has gathered his A-list friends together to honour the memory of his friend Natalie Sattler who died of brain cancer in September 2008 (she was 35 years old) to create a beautiful hard cover coffee table book “The Beauty Book.”
The 260 page Beauty Book will be bursting at the seams with portraits of celebrities, musicians and models with all the monies raised going to Aussie Brain Cancer Charity called SNOG. There are lots of Aussies faces involved, Miranda Kerr, Delta Goodrem (seen here), Alex O’Loughlin, Sam Worthington, Hugh Jackman and Melissa George to name a few.
Darren wanted to use his celebrity connections to raise awareness and raise money to help support people with this horrible disease, all monies raised from sales will go to SNOG to help in finding a cure for this disease. Apparently 2,000 Aussies are diagnosed with brain tumors every year, 280,000 worldwide and brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death’s in patients younger than age 35 – wow, I had no idea!
SNOG is a charitable organisation, which aims to improve the management of brain tumors through targeted research, information and constant scrutiny of treatment options. The group supports the efforts of a multidisciplinary team of Doctors including Neurosurgeons, Oncologists and Pathologists. SNOG is co-ordinating research into various radiation and drug protocols used in advance treatments of malignant tumors. The Group is involved in research projects that span the epidemiology, diagnostic images, surgical approached, tumor biology and drug trials.
If you don’t know anything about Darren Tieste, he shot his first job for Dolly Magazine at the age of 20 years old, the shoot was for a give away but the editor loved the photo so much it ended up on the cover.
Today, Darren works the globe, shooting for a very diverse list of clients in the US, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
“I’m very thankful I have a job that takes me all over the world and allows me to work in many countries” Tieste said.
The book is due for launch around August 2010 and you can pre-register for a copy at www.thebeautybook.org. You can also visit the Aussie charity organisation SNOG at www.snog.org.au to learn more about their work and what they do.
This is an awesome use of celebrities and I can’t wait to get a copy.
