The celebrity fragrance market continues to roll out celebrity scent after celebrity scent, I told you it will be my turn next 🙂
Jennifer Lopez is releasing her 16th fragrance (includes limited editions & flankers), Love and Glamour in October this year starting with a roll out in Macy’s and other department stores mid-November. J.Lo launch her first scent in 2002 and her fragrance sales to date are worth over $1 BILLION!
J.Lo found regaining her pre-baby schedule and body to be inspiring when concocting Love and Glamour. “It was right after the babies, when I was getting back to work and getting back to what I do again,” said Lopez of her inspiration. “It just felt like a time of a lot of love and that seemed very romantic to me — I said it seems like love and glamour.”
Love and Glamour, which Lopez created with Honorine Blanc and Harry Fremont of Firmenich, has top notes of Italian mandarin, guava and nectarine pulp; a heart of water lily, coconut orchid, orange flower absolute and jasmine petals, and a drydown of sandalwood, sensual musk and amber.
Lopez designed the bottle with Coty Prestige’s Jon Dinapoli. “We wanted to do something that fit in with the name,” said Lopez. “We thought of a woman on a red carpet with a gown and being the height of glamour at an amazing party at some black-tie event. It looks like a sculptural piece of a woman in a gown.”
Love and Glamour will launch first at Macy’s in October, followed by a mid-November rollout to HSN and wider department store distribution. At full rollout, the scent will be available in about 2,200 department and specialty store doors.
Meanwhile Halle Berry is launching her third fragrance, Reveal, and her fragrance sales are worth $60M.
Halle says about the new fragrance: “This is a part of expressing who I really am — for the good and the bad, it’s about being comfortable with myself as a woman, and sharing secret parts of myself,” said Berry of Reveal.
I have to say it’s completely refreshing to hear Halle make this statement about fashion: “As much as I love fashion, I’m not planning my own line. “That’s too hard,” she said, laughing. “I know good fashion, but that doesn’t mean I can create it! I just know it when I see it.”
Reveal, created in partnership with Richard Herpin of Firmenich, is a floral woody juice. It opens with top notes of Berry’s favorite flower, mimosa, along with notes of peach, honeydew melon and red berries; has a heart of plumeria flower, iris blossom and neroli petals, and a base of vetiver, cashmere woods and skin musk.
Berry noted that iris is a “very special part of the composition — iris can be a bit dark or woody, but I decided to choose facets of it that make it feel velvety soft and airy.”
Reveal’s bottle, designed by Jane Tarallo, is a four-sided teardrop with ridges and a jewel-cut cap.
They are both sure to hit Australian shelves I’ll try and find out when next week.
