Yesterday Megan Gale launched a free breast-screening clinic at the David Jones Bourke Street store in Melbourne’s CBD. The Rose Clinic will be the state’s first free in-store breast screening clinic for women.
Megan looking very pretty in pink was joined by Victoria’s Premier John Brumby and beautiful roses for the announcement, the clinic will provide free mammograms to more than 7,000 women each year.
Megan said she was lucky her family had not been touched by breast cancer but wanted to promote awareness about early detection.
“As women we spend so much time pampering and spoiling ourselves with shopping but we have to look after ourselves from a health perspective as well,” she said.
About 700 Victorians die of breast cancer each year and Minister of Health Daniel Andrews said the Rose Clinic could save lives.
The clinic will open on August 13.
I wonder if we’ll see something like this roll-out across the country, sometimes it’s about creating convenience in our lives that helps the most.
