During Rosemount Australian Fashion Week I met a very down-to-earth unassuming Aussie girl who I bonded with immediately and then loved her even more when I found out she is an incredibly gifted jewellery designer who has worked with the Victoria’s Secret Angels and a plethora of celebrities across the globe jeweling them up with her amazing designs!
Jenny Manik Mercian is said designer, and her own label, Manik Mercian, is so incredibly amazing, I really have no words for it, she was destined to be an amazing designer even her middle name, Manik, means precious gem!
Jenny’s incredible designs have been adorning Victoria’s Secret Angels since the 2005 Victoria’s Secret Show. Victoria’s Secret describes her work as ‘shockingly beautiful’ and have asked Jenny to come back and create jeweled couture for their 2006, 2007,2008 and 2009 shows. And that includes Miranda Kerr! (We know how much I love the Angels).
In addition Jenny also has created designs for various International fashion houses and international celebrities such as Mary J Blige, Fergie, Cheryl Cole, Heidi Klum, Tyra, Oprah, Selita Ebanks, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce and Kate Mos wear her designs. How surreal!
This year she was chosen to design and craft five couture jewellery pieces for Swarovski International’s trend collection which will be showcased around the world.
Locally she was recently jeweller of choice for Dion Lee’s Spring/Summer 2011 reveal at Australian Fashion Week which I saw!
Any excuse to put a Victoria’s Secret video in my post:
Collaborating with her sister Sharon Sahani Mercian, Jenny and Sharon have created a diffusion line Sahini. The Sahani collection uses only high end quality materials which include Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, 22kt Gold and Rhodium plate, and other exotic materials sourced from around the world.
The new collection called Industrial Deco is inspired by the 1920’s industrial revolution and mixes elements of art deco and imagery of cold steel machinery. Sahani pieces are also popular with international press and celebrities. (Sahini pieces are located towards the end of the gallery, after the Dion Lee images).
There’s also some images of Jenny helping Rosie Huntington-Whiteley get her jewels on, you can read about it at Glamour Mag.
Watch this video of Jenny and see some of her amazing jewellery on the screen, she’s so amazingly talented!
Jenny is also a finalist in the UK Jewellery Awards for 2010, she’s jetting off to the UK shortly, so let’s wish her lots of luck but if they know what’s good for them, she’ll come out the winner!
I’m so in awe of this girl’s talent!
