Today was the much anticipated David Jones Spring Summer 2010 Fashion launch held today, 3rd August my birthday, at their Elizabeth Street Flagship Store on ‘Seventh Heaven’ as we know level seven as!

Guest ambassadors replacing Miranda Kerr included international modeling heavyweights (not in size thank you) Abbey Lee Kershaw, Catherine McNeil, Nicole Trunfio and Alexandra Agoston.

Also walking the catwalk was local favourite Samantha Harris, Stephane Carta, Louise Van der Vorst, Sarah Stephens and Allegra Carpenter walking exclusively for the store. I also see my other favourite Victoria Lee.

Australia\’s leading designers and members of the David Jones Fashion Family, including: camilla and marc, Akira, Alex Perry, Alannah Hill, Bianca Spender, Calibre, Carla Zampatti, Collette Dinnigan, Easton Pearson, Fleur Wood, Ginger & Smart, Lisa Ho, sass & bide, Scanlan & Theodore, Thurley, Trelise Cooper, Willow, Jets and Zimmermann.

The catwalk show saw more than 180 outfit changes on 38 of Australia\’s leading models, with Kelvin Harries bringing the Spring Summer fashion to life.

Exclusively for the launch, shu uemura ‘International Make-Up Director\’, Uchiide-San travelled from Japan to direct the show make-up.  Uchiide-San headed up a carefully selected, elite group of ten shu uemura make-up specialists who worked their magic bringing the incredible looks to life.

From 4am, the shu uemura team practiced the shu uemura intricate make-up application technique for 6 hours involving over 1000 brush strokes. Three ‘mode\’ make-up looks – ‘Bold Beauty\’, ‘Romance is Back\’ and ‘Youthful Edge\’ were created exclusively for the David Jones runway. Inspired by the intense colours of the Australian Summer, custom made ‘gold space twist\’ lashes captured the ‘Youthful Edge\’ make-up look, creating an ultra-feminine expression, with a glistening, sun-kissed finish.

Under the creative direction of Darren Borthwick this season saw a mix of three distinctive, yet effortlessly chic looks including sleek ponytails, romantic braiding, and deconstructed top- knot buns.

So all in all a brilliant show and I love the ‘nude’ ending with Sam, Abbey Lee, Nicole, Cat and Alexandra!  Next up is the Red Carpet Arrivals and I might update with some more images a bit later.

Hi, Do you know who the model in the middle is wearing? It was written in the paper Sass and Bide but I don’t think it is? I really want to buy it for an upcoming function I have! I hope you can help! Thanks.

Me too, although having Abbey, Cat, Alexandra and Nicole was a big coup for DJ’s and they are fantastic models and I loved seeing them support our local market but yes I too missed Miranda 🙂
