Stella McCartney for Target Australia Launch Party

Designers for Target

Last night I was honoured to be invited to the launch party of Target Australia\’s newest designer collaboration, Stella McCartney for Target. It was held on the lawns of Altona House, one of Australia\’s most expensive homes in Wunulla Road, Point Piper and it was the prettiest Garden Party I’ve ever been too, my fantasy of the world of the glossy editorials came alive and I was part of it!

I arrived by water taxi with other fellow bloggers (Karen Cheng, Style Melbourne, Fashion Hayley, Dropstitch and Little Black Book.) departing from our hotel The Blue Hotel in Woolloomooloo (wore a military inspired dress from Jacqui E, with black patent peeptoe wedges and black knee length black coat and had the front of my hair done in two braids by Stevie English Hair). We were greeted with champagne at the Pool House (I would be happy living in the poolhouse) as we were a tad early.  Throughout the evening we nibbled on delicious vegetarian canapés, the menu approved by Stella herself, including vegie burgers, mushroom tartlets and gelato cones (I can\’t recall any others, I was too busy having a great time).

We got our first glimpse of the new collection when the models started to wander down to their designated “areas”; we pounced on them and started snapping away, trying to guess who the new designer was.

I loved the little ‘scenes\’ that had been created for the models to ‘play\’ in; we had deck chairs down by the pool, a chess game, a pool table upstairs on the balcony and my favourite, of course, was the sweets table. A table of sweet delights overflowing with mini cupcakes, decadent brownies, lollies, and liquorice scattered among the jars of pink & white marshmallows, pretty flowers, tea pots and tea cups and bowls of strawberries. My favourite model Samantha Harris was there, I had been wondering why she wasn\’t at the international shows this season and she said her visa hadn\’t been finalised as yet, I was so looking forward to her walking the shows this season.

The collection was launched by Target\’s Managing Director, Launa Inman; she said:

Stella McCartney\’s signature style is incredibly appealing to the Australian market. After the overwhelming response to Stella\’s initial range for Target in 2007, we are thrilled that she and her team have agreed to a second Designers for Target range.”

I feel that the second collection is so much more covetable than her first; this collection has more than 40 pieces including a divine collection of accessories (love, the double LOVE bangles), incorporating pieces from Stella\’s recent ranges as well as some created exclusively for Target.  The collection is evening wear focused with lots of pretty dresses sporting a luxurious feel; it is very stylish, elegant and very much on-trend with its muted palette of nudes, navy, black, splashes of colour, a hint of animal print; lace, pleating and embroidery.

The range includes a selection of separates that are easily mixed and matched with your own wardrobe and you can easily take the outfits from day-to-night.  It\’s really hard to choose a favourite, but the gathered silk dress in nude and black RRP$299 is definitely at the top of my list.

Behind the Scenes Video:

It truly was a magical evening, being at Altona House (Hugh Jackman and Bono have stayed there) chatting and laughing with Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Jacinta Tynan, Brooke Corte, (both Sky News) Helen McCabe (Woman\’s Weekly Editor), Donny Galella (my fashion designer & stylist mate), Jenny Kee (just divine), Katherine Hicks (Rescue Special Ops, just adorable) under the stars with Sydney skyline lit up in the background, the piano tinkling away, it was a very Sassi experience and I\’m so grateful to have been able to experience an event like this and to see the covetable designer collection as I did, a glossy dream indeed!
