Karl Lagerfeld is co-designing a hotel Isla Moda in Dubai

Design Scene, one of my favourite blogs, has bought to our attention a hotel project that Karl Lagerfeld is involved in.  Mr Lagerfeld has teamed up with Architecture firm Oppenheim and the Kor Hotel Group to design Isla Moda, a man-made island 20km off the coast of Dubai which will host 150 lavish residential units and three luxury hotels to be completed by the end of 2014.

“Inspired by the floating palaces of India and the modern day equivalent of the cruise ship,” the images are very cool and looks nearly as cool as Lilypad Island I posted about last year!  I do hope the architecture team consider the environment in their designs too!

Can’t wait to see the finished product and can you imagine the opening party? And I wonder if we see some big fashion show there? Of course it’s another ‘elite’ project that ordinary individuals would have no hope of ever experiencing.

Update: I nearly had a heart attack when I saw an email from Mr Lagerfeld’s Publicist in my inbox, she wants my audience to know that Karl has no affiliation with this project anymore.
