‘Barbie by Stefano Canturi\’ was unveiled in the US for the first time at ‘Fashion Night Out\’ (September 11), after touring the globe she is in New York ready to be auctioned. Valued at AU$600,000 the necklace and ring is made from 3.00cts of white diamonds and a rare 1.00ct pink Argyle diamond (comes from the Australian Argyle mine) in the signature “Cubismâ„¢” design style of Stefano Canturi.
After Mattel provided the brief for the history making Barbie, Stefano spent seven days perfecting a design concept and then four weeks to create:
“I wanted the jewelry design to pay homage to Barbie\’s modern yet timeless style, this is why I applied my Cubism design concept to her look, it is perfect for her”.
Beyond creating a beautiful and historic doll, Stefano wanted this project to have a meaningful contribution to the women who inspire him and for whom he designs. Â As such, Canturi partnered with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation with proceeds to benefit the non-profit organization.
About the Pink Diamond: The 1ct Square cut diamond, notable for its distinctive purplish pink hue, is a rare and unique collector\’s item. Pinks diamonds are beyond rare. With just an estimated decade of supply remaining in specialty mines, a whole year\’s worth of production of stones over half a carat would fit in the palm of your hand. Pink Diamonds are highly sought after by investors and diamond aficionados. They are prized by all who possess them and revered for their unique provenance, intrinsic beauty and extreme rarity. Of course I want one!
