The much anticipated first fragrance from Rihanna, Reb’l Fleur, has finally arrived on Australian shores just in time for Rihanna’s tour de force around Australia. In Rihanna’s own words about her debut fragrance:
“I believe a woman should dare to be different – willing to live her life for herself and not for other people,” Rihanna explains. “This fragrance is about my passion for individuality – being expressive and empowering, yes, but also emotional and intriguing. I promise you Reb’l Fleur will not be easily forgotten.”
The fragrance was inspired by Rihanna’s roots in Barbados, mixed with the glamour of her present life in New York City. Created by internationally renowned perfumers, Caroline Sabas and Marypierre Julien, this fruity chypre is bursting with plump, delicious fruits, red berries, purple plums and juicy, ripe peaches make a delicious first impression. Then the heart opens into a lush hybrid hinting at Island life, subtle yet intoxicating, blossoming with sumptuous florals, a passionate melody of Hawaiian Hibiscus flower, violet, tuberose and coconut water. Defiantly sexy, the base notes linger, a beguiling, sensual mélange as vanilla, patchouli, amber and musk come together at the end. The beautiful campaign imagery was photographed by long-time collaborator Anthony Mandler and captures Rihanna at the essence of herself.
It’s exactly as I would have expected Rihanna’s fragrance to smell, weird I know but it’s true. The scent is a ‘young’ floral scent with the lingering mix of vanilla and musk as it continues to settle.
The Reb’l Fleur bottle was inspired by the shape of a stiletto heel, a favourite option for Rihanna. Made feminine with a twisting matte black ‘ribbon’ layered over precious metal.
The Reb’l Fleur Fragrance collection includes three sizes of the Eau de Parfum Spray 30ml (RRP$39), 50ml (RRP$59) and 100ml (RRP$79). Th new fragrance will be available from this weekend (February 26th) nationally in Myer, David Jones, The Perfume Connection and selected independent stockists, for your nearest stockist call (02) 9695 5678.
