Oroton has drawn inspiration from the East and their humble beginnings of importing Japanese silks with a very limited edition run (33 only) of an opulent Vintage Kimono Clutch bag celebrating Oroton’s history and heritage and international expansion with Daria Werbowy as the face of their Autumn/Winter 2011 Collections.
Using a mix of leather, mesh with Obi fabrics of vintage kimonos from Kyoto Japan, Ana Maria Escobar, Creative Director Oroton, shares her vision of using the Kimono Fabrics:
“Kimono fabrics just lure you in to touch them. And the way they are displayed, all hanging in lines, it was just gorgeous”
Available in four different styles with distinguishable Japanese names that evoke the sensibility of aesthetics and traditions, each one with it’s own style and character; Sakura (Cherry Blossom), Amaya (Night Rain), Emiko (Smiling Child), Akane (Deep Red).
The vintage detailing on each clutch pays homage to the Obis vivid lives of past owners that tell a story of bygone splendours characterised by frayed edges, worn threads and old world elegance.
The Limited Edition Collection of 33 Clutches are available now, with an RRP$495.00 at all OROTON freestanding stores and online at Oroton.
