Patron on the rocks and a giant laced-up shoe. It didn’t feel like a Tuesday night when guests arrived at the Surry Hill’s stone church.
There were more sneakers on display, than on people’s feet. But no one left the premises without drooling over the contemporary designs lined up on the racks.
Last week saw the launch of GIDEON shoes, as the brand officially cut the ribbon (not literally) for its first flagship store in Australia. And Sydney is lucky enough to be the brand’s headquarters.
The flashy guest list may have taken the attention away from the shoes, but the founders (brothers as well) of the label, Matt and Rupert Noffs, knew exactly how to reiterate the crowd. They invited fashion editors, stylists, socialites, bloggers and Kelly Cutrone.
The lady who has one too many titles tucked under her belt, Kelly Cutrone graced the launch event with her casual and witty appearance. While everyone lined up to get their book, arms and even iPad covers signed by the PR guru, Kelly was humble enough to mention why she was representing the label in the United States.
There was a fountain of beer, wine, champagne, tequila-based cocktails being served, as the guests mingled with the reality TV star and the photographer. The original choir loft of the church put on a rather upbeat mask, when the Creative Director of Gideon shoes, Daimon Downey mixed some smooth beats for the crowd.
Some of the other high-profile Sydney celebrities who attended the launch included, Nikki Phillps, Zanita Whittington and model/actor Didier Cohen.
If you haven’t already checked out Sassi sam’s EXCLUSIVE interview with Kelly Cutrone, then you’re missing out. There is also an opportunity to win a signed copy of her book, If you have to cry go bugger off outside.
