Inside January shares: ‘I think this is a really good moment for me, careerwise,’ she says, ‘nothing ever came to me too easily or too fast, so I’ve been able to adjust. I’ve never got too bitter or jaded.’
Why she wanted to become an actress? ‘I’m masochistic,’ she says, striking a pose in a sweeping, Balenciaga at Matches dress. ‘I’m afraid of judgement and I couldn’t think of a job where you’re more open to judgement, more exposed. I always have to face my fears.’
The Fame Game: ‘I don’t like living with other people,’ she states, ‘and I don’t mind being alone. I don’t like having an entourage of people around me ‘ I have a select group of friends who I hang out with.’ And where romance is concerned? ‘I just don’t really have a lot of time or energy to put into a relationship where nothing’s going to happen.’
On her dislike of interviews: ‘When I talk about myself, half the time I’m lying.’ And now? ‘Maybe. I do it because I’m bored of talking about myself, or I have nothing left to say, or I want to be private that day.’ But nonetheless, she’s very content. ‘Everybody writes that they think I’m so unhappy,’ she says. And that’s not the case? ‘Not at all. I’m in my own head. I’m doing things. Keeping things interesting.’
