Last year it was Arabian glamour, but this summer we’re going Latino, baby!
Minutes before Alex Perry’s Spring Summer 2011/12 runway show began, I caught up with make-up guru, Napolean Perdis, himself. Working the NP magic, Perdis says the mood for the collection is inspired by “a cuban princess, with a hint of orient“. It’s a latino flare with colour.
“There’s a very obvious reference to orient precision and lines. I kind of feel like the glamour interpretation is Jerry Hall stepping out in the ’70s. The line is all about accentuating the eye. Alex loves a bold eye,” says Perdis.
The three sleek golden and purple lines on the corner of the eye provide a very regal and expensive look. The flawless skin – a strong matte base – and almost-nude lips, work very well with the bold outfits in the collection. The brows are natural and brushed back. “(The brows) are an Australian freshness to the Cuban glamour,” exclaims Perdis.
Three coats of mascara and zero lashes attract even more attention to the eyes. But Perdis says this look can be easily transformed from runway to reality.
“Just play with it. We push the look on the runway, which is why it’s so extravagant. The more we inspire the customer, the more she is going to move in a newer direction. It will be a vacation for her. Every single day,” he says.
The crazy eyes are a perfect contract to Dario Cotroneo’s ultra-sleek ponytail. Swept back hair with a very sharp-edge tail, was the hair trend for the show. As the models strut down the runway to pumping music, the playful ponytail proved to be the perfect choice. Bravo team!
