Directed by: John Lasseter and Brad Lewis
Starring: Owen Wilson, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Larry the Cable Guy

Star speed racer Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is back and is tearing up the big screen all over again with Disney Pixar\’s latest animated feature Cars 2. After making McQueen a household name through his remarkable success on the racing circuit, Lightning must now face his toughest challenge yet; defending his reputation in the ultimate International Grand Prix. But when McQueen decides to bring his eccentric Radiator Springs pit crew along for the ride all hell breaks loose when his often mindless best friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) unwittingly becomes entangled in a bi-lateral espionage operation.

While Lightning McQueen is racing against the clock to stay the fastest car in the world, Mater is in a time trial of his own: rushing to save both the future of racing and his best friend\’s life.

Cars 2 is a smart mix of spy thriller, action blockbuster, and screwball comedy that proves as entertaining for adults as it is for children. To celebrate its 25th anniversary Pixar Studios have created a high energy rollercoaster ride full of high octane race scenes and quick witted quips. An astounding amount of work has gone into recreating the details of the vivid backdrops as the characters race though Tokyo, Paris, Porto Corso, and London.  This is definitely a film worth watching in 3D and at times you are astounded at just how much these animators can achieve.

This is a heartfelt film with important messages for children about standing by your friends, embracing what makes you unique, and believing in yourself. It even has a splattering of environmental responsibility and corporate distrust thrown in.

Cars 2 is a fun romp, and is certainly an entertaining way to keep the kids entertained on a rainy weekend. Catch it in cinemas to be treated to the hilarious 3D animated short Toy Story: Hawaii which will screen before the film nationally.

Cars 2 is in cinemas now Australia wide.
