Local cashmere label Banjo & Matilda have teamed up with the Salvation Army and celebrities Natalie Imbruglia and Elle Macpherson in a new charity initiative; The Sweater Exchange. Launched in conjunction with Virgin Atlantic airlines and the Salvation Army\’s Oasis charity to encourage celebrities and the average Joe to give away their old and used sweaters for the young and homeless.
“This is an opportunity for those of us who are blessed with loving families and warm homes to give something of a personal nature to young people living on the streets”. – Belynda Macpherson, Banjo & Matilda
International and Australian celebrities are donating their sweaters to the cause, and they will be auctioned off for the charity at the end of the donation drive. Other celeb recruits include Richard Branson, Pia Miranda, Alyssa McClelland and Sarah Snooks.
You can donate too by visiting the Banjo and Matilda website at www.banjoandmatilda.com. Just register your name and address and a complimentary Australia Post satchel will be mailed out to you. Deposit your satchel containing your pre-loved sweater and it will be sitting on the rack of a Salvation Army store during the month of July.
And by donating this way, you will receive a $50 gift voucher, which can be used to purchase anything from the knitwear range at Banjo & Matilda. See? Give a little, get a little.
