You’ve loved these girls, envied their pants, and wished you could have the same sisterhood in your life. Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brasheres is the fifth book in the Travelling Pants series and sees the Septembers establishing grown-up lives, some contemplating marriage, some contemplating children, but all somehow losing contact with each other as their lives get busier and busier. But Tibby – who has moved to Australia with long-time love Brian, has a surprise for the others. Unexpectedly, Carmen, Lena and Bridget all receive an airline ticket from her, to go to Santorini to revisit the scene of their last Sisterhood ritual and where the Travelling Pants were lost forever.

When they get there, the girls are met with more than they think they can handle and the sisterhood seems to be shattered. They all retreat from each other, unsure how to define themselves without their Sisterhood and not knowing who they really are. The novel is sad at times, and at other times funny – but always gentle and loving, and shows that true friendship will always survive the difficult times and may even come out stronger. By seemingly breaking up the Sisterhood, Ann Brashares has given the girls a chance to grow independently, and a chance to understand what life could have been like without each other.

It’s okay though, there is a happy ending, and I won’t spoil it for you. And you will not be disappointed getting there, as the novel is as smoothly written and the journey is as seamless as any of Ann Brashares’ other Travelling Pants novels. I can’t wait to see if there are more stories in future for these girls.
