Last week Perth\’s fashion set was out in force for the launch of the 13th annual Perth Fashion Festival calendar.Â Demonstrating its â€˜coming of age\’, Festival Director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan announced a sophisticated line-up of Western Australian and national fashion design talent and events as part of the 2011 Festival calendar.
“For a Festival in its 13th year, we continue to raise the bar and deliver a unique program that is certain to pique the interests of the most discerning fashion followers,” Ms Harvey-Hanrahan said.
Excitingly two new homes for this year’s Festival have been announced;Â Hackett Hall at the Western Australian Museum and the iconic GPO building as well as the introduction of capsule shows showcasing young designers for the first time, WA designer Aurelio Costarella will show his collection on home soil for the first time at the VIP launch on 21 September and the iconic WA fashion label Wheels & Dollbaby has chosen PFF to mark its silver jubilee.
The 2011 Perth Fashion Festival, features an eclectic mix of 40 fashion forward events, and lists seven stand-alone designer runway shows, three new-concept designer capsule shows, and 136 designers participating as well as an international model search as just some of its calendar highlights.
Also lending her support is Gail Elliott to help unearth WA\’s next top model at the 2011 Perth Fashion Festival (PFF) International Model Search presented by Claremont Quarter.
Commenting on her involvement, Gail said, “I am honoured to be asked to participate in this year\’s Festival, and excited to see the talent on offer. With models such as Nicole Trunfio and Gemma Ward hailing from Western Australia we are sure to see a number of stunning aspiring models entering the Search.
“I\’ll be searching for a look which has longevity in the fashion industry. So often we see models come and go but I hope to find that fresh face that will go on to spend 10 or 20 years in the modelling industry,” said Ms Elliott.
