Here’s our first look at Burberry Body, the women’s fragrance fronted by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as revealed last month. The new fragrance is being positioned as an ‘iconic’ scent, but I guess that means more like ‘signature’ scent.Â
The scent\’s floral woody amber juice, made with Robertet perfumer Michel Almairec, was inspired by Britain. There are notes of green absinthe, peach and freesia in Burberry Body\’s head; a floral bouquet of rose and iris notes mixed with sandalwood in its heart, and notes of cashmere wood, vanilla, amber and musk in its base.
Burberry Body\’s bottle design, conceived by Christopher Bailey, Burberry chief creative officer, and including the fashion brand\’s signature tartan, took a cue from a faceted jewel.
“I often describe Burberry as a multi-faceted diamond and so it seemed completely natural that a fragrance that represents all of the different moods, attitudes and expressions of the brand is packaged in a jewel like shape. The colours reflect the sensual and emotive nature of the scent. I wanted the bottle to be desirable as an object, not only because of the scent. I am always inspired by architecture and I wanted to translate the  sensuality of the fragrance using these gentle rose gold and nude filters into something iconic and distinctive.”
The Burberry Body Range will come in Burberry Body Eau de Parfum RRP$90 30ml, RRP$135 60ml and RRP$170 85ml bottles, Eau de Parfum Intense in RRP$149 60ml and RRP$187 85ml (exclusive to David Jones) a Body Mist RRP$55 and Body Oil RRP$55.
