Alexa Chung is in Sydney on official duties as the International Ambassador for ACP’s 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty and we got up close and personal with her this morning at a press conference at the Shangri-La Hotel alongside local Ambassadors Alyssa Sutherland, Heidi Harrington-Johnson and Sarah Stephens.
The down-to-earth ambassadors shared with us their favourite things about Australian fashion (Alexa reckons we\’re more daring with prints and cut-outs) and their love for Paw Paw Ointment (Both Alyssa and Alexa are stocking up for New York!).
Meeting Alexa Chung herself has got to be one of the highlights of my year. Not only am I jealous of her delicious wardrobe (her favourite things – Chanel bag, Burberry trench, vintage denim cut-offs, school boy loafers and fantasy silver mini dress can pay a visit to mine anytime!), but also her sense of humour and British charm is just so refreshing. She has got to be one of the most down to earth and funniest people I have ever met.
Dressed in a gorgeous navy blue Chanel tweed dress, a pair of shiny Balenciaga loafers and donning her signature “Mick Jagger, circa 1976” hairdo, Alexa certainly looked the part of International Ambassador for 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty. Humble to be an It-girl and finding herself on Google as hilarious, saying:
“I try not to look. I sort of nose-dived into Googling myself when I first started being written about, so I was like, ‘Isn\’t that weird, they\’re writing about me,\’ and then I was like, ‘Oh, they\’re just saying very bitchy things.\’ So I try not to look now. No human should have to think about themselves that much. It makes you very vain.”
Charismatic and witty, the self-confessed “selfish DJ” (she won\’t take any requests and will only play awesome 60s, sometimes 90s, but never 80s, tunes – yeah, she\’s that cool!) and television host shared with us her love for all things salmon! She customises her own lipstick colour with a bit of MAC lippie and a pale concealer and is currently obsessed with coral nails! That\’s right, Ms. Chung says orange is cool.
The cover girl of Harper\’s Bazaar Australia\’s October Issue (which is STUNNING and we have a sneak peek here for you) will be in Australia for a few more days for her duties as ACP\’s 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty, shopping and visiting Whale Beach!
