Last night Kirstie Clements and the Australian Vogue team hosted a launch party for their new iPad app. Held at Mrs Sippy in Sydney\’s Double Bay the event was stylishly understated with a touch of summer fun in the form of delicious cocktails infused with flavours such as passionfruit, apple, orange and cinnamon.
The app itself is a breath of fresh air in the digital publishing space, offering readers additional interactive content that can\’t be found in the magazine, such as interviews with cover girl Isabel Lucas on location in Botswana, Africa. On top of this, you can find bonus photography that can\’t be squeezed into the printed edition and super cute videos of fashion photos shoots, which actually give you the feeling of being on set – tres cool!
Another fab feature for readers is the ability to tap on a product within a page – Revlon makeup features heavily within this edition – and get all the information you need on it as well as a link to the product\’s website.
And the app even enhances the experience of watching ads. Belvedere Vodka, who sponsored last night\’s event and partnered in the development of the app, have interactive video ads, one of which features Usher and is almost just as entertaining to watch as the rest of the magazine\’s content.
Kirstie Clements, editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia says:
“Far from being a replica of the printed magazine, the Vogue Australia iPad app will engage our audience with exclusive multimedia content and behind-the-scenes glimpses of a world of fashion and beauty that only Vogue can access.”
In true Vogue style the app is premium and chic and represents a new era in digital publishing – one that we can\’t wait to eat up.
The Vogue Australia iPad app is available now to download free-of-charge via the App Store. Yep free of charge, go, now!
