The always lovely Sarah Murdoch is the Christmas Cover Girl for The Australian Women’s Weekly’s December 2011 issue. Photographed by Simon Lekias, styled by Judith Cook & Mattie Cronan Sarah wears an Alex Perry Red Dress matched with jewellery from John T Hinkley and Hermes bracelets. The only retouching on this cover has been to the dress to make it a brighter shade of red!
I asked Editor in Chief Helen McCabe why she thinks people across all age groups love Sarah and she said:
“Sarah has had an interesting year with Australia\’s Next Top Model and a TV advertisement for Vaalia yoghurt but behind the scenes she is a devoted mother to three children. I know AWW readers admire her on a number of levels. They think she is beautiful and elegant – they admire that but they also like that she is a mother like them.”
Inside Sarah talks about turning the big 4-0 next year, how she juggles three children (Kalan 7, Aidan 5 and Aerin 20mths) with a modelling and business career and bemoans the lack of work ethic in Generation Y citing examples from the ANTM TV show she hosts saying:
“I mean, we’re the ones sitting on set for 18 hours; they’re back in the green room having sandwiches and cups of tea and they’re still whingeing.” “I keep saying to these girls, Do you not realise the leg up you’ve been given? Can you not fathom what has been handed to you here and you’re still complaining!”
Also inside as an AWW exclusive, Deborah Costa, wife of former NSW treasurer Michael, was held at knifepoint in her own kitchen changed her life forever, she tells The Weekly how the trauma has affected her children, who both suffer debilitating, life-threatening illnesses, and of her fear for many months that the attack was politically motivated.
The Christmas issue comes with 100 pages of recipe, gift and craft ideas for Christmas and will be on Aussie newsstands tomorrow (Wednesday November 23rd), you’ll be able to read more at the AWW website tomorrow morning.
