DreamWorks\’ latest animation Puss in Boots known for his presence in the Shrek films definitely carries this movie well. It\’s the back story leading up to his infamous meeting with Shrek. Puss in Boots (Banderas) has been a bad but loveable kitty with those big innocent eyes that get him into all sorts of trouble. He may have nine lives, but he has only one destiny. Puss has a close relationship with Humpty Dumpty (Galafianakis of The Hangover movies) from when they were orphans in a little village with big dreams. They are literally blood brothers, making a pact to search for the ‘magic beans\’ that will lead them to the Golden Goose in the sky and make them rich beyond their wildest dreams. It is an interesting mishmash of fairytales as we hear of Jack and the Beanstalk, the Giant and the baddies of the film, Jack and Jill!

After an unfortunate incident on a bridge, involving all the King\’s horses and all the King\’s men, Puss reconnects with Humpty Dumpty later in life. The relationship has not fared well as both still hold a grudge from the earlier crisis in their hometown. Humpty Dumpty has as new plan to obtain the Golden Goose and requires the talents of this creative kitty to get the magic beans out of the grasp of Jack and Jill. This is no mean feat as they are menacing characters (Thornton & Sedaris) out to get the prize, yet surprisingly family orientated! You should see their brood!

On a mission, Puss meets up with Kitty Soft Paws (Hayek) for the first time in a controversial Tuesday Night Dance Fight! This is, by far, the funniest scene in the movie with the cats – doing very cat things! It is so well depicted and these kitties provide lots of laughs. Kitty is loveable and sneaky with her uncanny ability to steal from anyone at any time with her gorgeous soft paws. After some antics with a guitar, Puss is definitely struck by the love bug and whilst pursuing the Golden Goose also makes time to pursue his latest crush, Ms Kitty Soft Paws, which is so delightfully voiced by Hayek.

From the get go this film had everyone laughing and enjoying the antics of these marvelous characters on a quest to fulfill their dreams. Puss is nothing short of a rebel, a lover and a hero! DreamWorks is onto a winner here and Puss in Boots is definitely good enough for a sequel – I\’ll be lining up for that one too!

Get a glass of milk and see this film in 3D – it is me WOW!

Puss in Boots is in cinemas now
