I love Ellen, everyone knows how much I love her (I have my own website dedicated to her, but it’s not finished, 2012 is the year I’ll finish it okay) so I was really excited to receive her third memoir Seriously… I’m Kidding. I had high expectations of this book, high and I was left a little bit disappointed but that could be because I watch Ellen every day, I seriously don’t miss a show. I’m not denying that she’s funny in this book and there were some chapters that were just gold, but there were some that were a little silly and pointless and I found it annoying … it’s funny because that’s what Ellen does on TV and it works in that medium and I just love it but in the book, it just fell a little bit flat and I’d seen some of it on her show.
But as the title suggests, Seriously … I’m Kidding, that’s exactly what Ellen is doing … her book isn’t meant to be taken seriously and I think you will love this book for it’s silliness, it’s why I love her, there’s nothing more fun than adult silliness, seriously! And her bursting at the seams of positiveness, we can’t have enough of that either … you can read it out loud to friends and family just so you can tap into some silliness yourself … try it, it’s fun!
In my eyes Ellen can do know wrong, she brings so much joy to so many people around the world and this book will bring joy to those that read it. I whole-heartedly recommend this book to everyone because she will make you laugh, everyone needs a shot of Ellen at least once a week I reckon! I think she’s hilarious, unafraid to be herself, she’s kind, she’s compassionate, she’s just who I aspire to be!
And it’s the perfect stocking stuffer this Christmas.
