Countless international supermodels have walked the runways at top designer fashion shows and have graced the covers of major fashion magazines. Because they\’re all recognised for their undeniable beauty. But before these models were household names, they were living lives of obscurity, oblivious to where their good looks would lead them.
In  Foxtel\’s new docu-series, Scouted, airing on the E! Channel tonight, viewers will follow the personal stories of young men and women from their discovery by local model scouts on their journeys to international stardom.
In the first episode we meet two of the talent scouts Houston and San Francisco and some of those behind leading-edge model agency One Management, based in New York City.
Following a bit of preliminary training and polishing, the local scouts submit their potential new stars to One Management in NYC, with the hopes that the experts like what they see and request a meeting. If the model is seen to have potential, she and her scout travel to New York City to meet with the industry experts, some of the most powerful players in the international modelling world, who do a professional evaluation before each girl meets with One Management.\’s Founder & CEO Scott Lipps.
For those unaware, One Management represents Bar Rafaeli, Pania Rose and Claudia Schiffer, Iman  to name a few. So to have the opportunity just to meet with One Management, is often make-or-break for the newly scouted.
Scouted really does pack it all in. The highs of the opportunity to meet with a leading modelling agency, the lows of not meeting the high expectations required in the ultra-competitive modelling world, dealing with dedicated parents of both extremes – those that only want the best and those that go too far.
This episode does tug at the heart strings: who wins the contract to be represented by One Management, who\’s prettiest versus most deserving.
What I really liked about Scouted was the fact that it wasn\’t trying to be another modelling show. Rather it pointed out the reality of modelling and what it actually takes to go from zero to hero.
Make sure you keep an eye out for the gorgeous wardrobes – both on and off the models (the shoe collection at One Management alone is ah-may-zing!) Lots of bling – but then, we\’re in New York afterall!
Scouted premieres tonight, Wednesday January 4th at 9:30pm AEDT only on E!
