First Look: We Chat to Charlie Brown Brand Ambassador Laura Dundovic About the New Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection
Here’s our first look at Laura Dundovic for her seventh season as Brand Ambassador for Charlie Brown, for the Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection aptly titled “Dark Side of the Moon.” Named after the Pink Floyd album the collection takes us on a journey bursting with Charlie’s signature vivid prints, opulent fabrics and embellishments.
“I am so excited to be onboard with Charlie Brown for the seventh season. I have such a strong connection with the label. The clothes make me feel sexy and sophisticated, giving me the confidence to walk into any situation.” – Laura Dundovic
The AW2012 collection has already started dropping into stores with the current range bursting with vibrant signature prints shown in a colour palette of blues, sands and black. Citrus tones and Egyptian inspired embellishment take a journey to another era of decadence. Denim and faux suede in natural colours add texture and layering.
Next month (ie. March) heralds the arrival of Charlie\’s oriental Masai print in striking colours and statement styles with bold purples and cherry reds brightening up the palette. The Ponte story takes you from the office to dinner with ease and military style coats and pencil skirts deliver a long lean silhouette to the customer.
And finally dropping in April will be print cardigans with button details reflect the current catwalk trends, while silk satin maxi dresses with belle sleeves and pussy bow blouses in chiffons take centre stage. Sequins are given a Deco treatment, with embellished tops, fishtail skirts and the art deco inspired cocktail dresses that take us on a trip to another world.
We chatted to our glamboyant friend Laura Dundovic to get her take on this season’s collection and a few other bits and pieces about what’s going on for her:
Sassi: You’ve been the face of Charlie Brown coming up for seven seasons now, it’s quite popular to change the face each season, so clearly you and Charlie are a match made in heaven, what keeps you staying on as the face of Charlie Brown?
Laura: The clothes every season! There are always to die for pieces that are so different to the last collection so its always exciting!
Sassi: What do you love and admire about Charlie as a person and of course as a successful business woman that she is?
Laura: Charlie’s creativity is beyond compare. Obviously we all get to see it with her diverse range every season but everything she does from house decorating to party organising everything has her own quirky yet stylish spin on it. As a business woman she is incredibly savvy. Her clothes are so popular with women because she takes the time to make sure her cuts, colours and fabrics are just right and can be worn by women of all shapes and sizes.
Sassi: What are the key trends for the upcoming AW12 season that you’re excited about and can’t wait to wear?
Laura: With Charlie gorgeous prints and her signature animal prints of course. She has an incredible range very cheekily named ‘The Cold Shoulder‘ where all the pieces have cut outs on the shoulders. It’s amazing how sexy the shoulder is on a woman! Her leather and suede leggings are must have staples this winter. The inner rock chick in me can’t wait to get into the leather biker vest and I cant wait to wear the sequined bronzed gown! It is just divine!
Sassi: You lead a very busy lifestyle, juggling many roles, how do you maintain your good health and how do you switch off from it all?
Laura: I have chronic fatigue so I make sure I get plenty of rest, good clean food and exercise regularly. In summer I switch off by the beach but when the weather is like this (Sydney is currently wet and a bit miserable) I tend to sit at home catching up on my Foxtel IQ (Gossip Girl is my fave!) or the grandma in me loves doing crosswords.
Sassi: You always look incredibly glamboyant, but please tell me that you love slouching around at home in trackies like the rest of us?Â
Laura: Trackies? That’s way to classy for me. I like to hang around the house in my pyjamas (did I just admit that?). My best trick is when I am ducking down to the shops or just picking something up I wear gym gear. It’s an excuse to tie your hair back and not wear makeup.
Sassi: Tell us something silly that’s happened to you recently?
Laura: I am the worlds biggest clutz and had a big fall a few weeks back and was covered in bruises. I managed to cover up the one on my face for an event but the ones on my legs I couldn’t hide.
Sassi: What do you have coming up? Anything you can share with us?
Laura: The second season of Dating In the Dark will be coming out soon and I can’t wait. It will be incredibly cheeky, funny and of course romantic! I am also working on an exciting project and can’t wait to share more with you when I can!
