Australia’s ‘curvy’ model Robyn Lawley has turned up on her first Australian Magazine cover for Madison Magazine’s March 2012 issue. Totally owning the cover, the story is about her ‘curves’ with the tag line ‘you don’t have to be skinny to be beautiful.’ Photographed by Chris Colls and styled by Fiona Kowalski, we see Robyn only wearing black inside, no colours or prints.
Robyn is 182cm tall and is a ‘healthy’ 14-16 which statistically puts her in the ‘normal’ category but of course in fashion land she is a ‘plus-sized’ model and as much as she would love to show case Aussie labels overseas, they still don’t make sample sizes in her size.
Inside she talks about taking her role as an ambassador for ‘healthy body image’ seriously but does acknowledge it’s hard always having people focus on her body but she knows the issue is ‘bigger than her.’ It’s great to see models like Robyn on our covers, and that she does seem to to live the healthy image of maintaining a life balanced with healthy eating and sensible exercise with her ultimate goal of being a chef and opening a restaurant in New York. She shares all her food on her blog: Robyn Lawley Eats.
What do you think about Robyn only now just getting her first Aussie cover after she had to go overseas to ‘make it?’
