Victoria Beckham attends the launch of Britain\’s GREAT campaign at Grand Central Station on Wednesday (February 15) in New York City alongside Anna Wintour (OBE) and fellow British Fashion peeps (Keren Craig, Georgina Chapman, Tamara Mellon, Marcus Wainwright, Jourdan Dunn, Karen Elson, and Hamish Bowles) to launch the British Government’s GREAT campaign.
The campaign is designed to promote the UK abroad and with the upcoming Olympics it was a great time to do so with Sir Peter Westmacott, the UK’s Ambassador to the United States, sharing:
“As one of Britain’s major fashion icons Victoria Beckham’s involvement with the GREAT Campaign will bring even more attention to Britain’s world renowned fashion designers, the magnificent range of shopping on offer and our distinctive British style.”
WWD reports from the photo opp:
“Please wait for the train. It’s all about the train,” Anna Wintour said in vain Wednesday afternoon as photographers shot a cadre of British fashion types on the subway platform at Grand Central Terminal.
The train in question was wrapped in the Union Jack to help launch the GREAT campaign, a marketing effort championed by Sir Peter Westmacott, Britain’s ambassador to the U.S. Despite promises that the train would be coming back, it never did (so it goes sometimes in New York.) No matter, Victoria Beckham was the one the flashbulb poppers were after, calling out her name incessantly.
Gotta love the press, it’s always about them! 🙂
