Rebecca Lau From Gosh Celebrity Shows Us How We Can Get Some of the Red Carpet Oscar Looks Locally, NOW!
Guest writer Rebecca Lau, Director of Gosh Celebrity gives us a fashion review for this year\’s Oscars and how you can channel the looks locally, right now!
Welcome to the inaugural event where Hollywoods A-Listers hit the red carpet for the 84th Academy Awards. The awards definitely had a retro feel to the ceremony, but let us go straight to the red carpet\’s fashion hits and where the sequins are plentiful and the split lengths are almost on cloud 9, literally.
And as the stars stepped out onto the red carpet it appeared that Oscar fashion also made a return to the black and white era. Angelina Jolie led the way stepping out in a dramatic dark velvet Versace gown, which boasted a thigh-high split to an ultra sexy effect. While Angelina had opted to show off her statement look in the Atelier Versace piece, other stars decided to step out in lighter and white gowns – which have proved popular throughout the awards season this year as white definitely lead the way for the fashion runway.
Gwyneth Paltrow looked impeccable, showing off simple lines in Tom Ford. Interesting choice by Gwyneth but one I am in love with. The Oscars is the time to take risks and I love the simple lines on this outfit. The neat blonde hair and the embellished cuff are a perfect accompaniment with the principal-come-sci-fi style cape. With all the boring gowns on this year\’s red carpet, Gwyneth is taking a risk that we love.
Emerging as queen of the red carpet, Rooney Mara looked so angelic in a delicate white Givenchy number which contrasts so strongly from her character in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The bold makeup and hair suits the outfit perfect and really makes her look stand out. Rooney is really proving her worth in the style stakes. I love the minimalism and clean look about her.
I love this nude tulle gown on Kristen Wiig. The texture is amazing on this gown and the soft curls in her hair compliment the sweetheart neckline. I loved the contrasting nail polish and the touch of bling White is a recurring theme on all the red carpet winners this year. I love the sequins and embellishments on Milla Jovovich\’s gown. The red lip and hair totally themed 50\’s glamour of this one shouldered dress. Opulence and old school elegance done well!
