Jennifer Hawkins, Jessica Hart & Kris Smith Present The Key Trends from the Myer Autumn/Winter 2012 Fashion Show + Video
What better day for Myer to launch their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection than the first day of Autumn. Staged at the beautifully refurbished Myer store on Bourke Street Mall in the Mural Hall, the stylish parade of this seasons trends were led by brand ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins, Jessica Hart and Kris Smith.
Myer have again added to their Designer house with the inclusion of Perth based Designers Morrison now on board. Myer boasts an enviable stable of Designers including Ellery, Kate Sylvester, Fleur Wood, Arabella Ramsay, Manning Cartell, Sass & Bide, Politix, Cue, Simona, Arthur Galan AG, Karen Walker, Yeojin Bae, Calvin Klein, Basque, T.L. Wood, Nicola Finetti, Autonomy, Magdalena Velevska, Leona Edmiston, Wayne Cooper, Blaq, Charlie Brown, Aurelio Costarella, Matthew Eager, Hugo Boss, Jayson Brunsdon and Toni Maticevski. It has to be said that there is certainly something for everyone!
Launching the newly refurbished Mural Hall, the catwalk was set with gold hues to match the beautiful polished boards, while a massive line up of 43 models presented the numerous looks. Jen Hawkins opened the show in Ellery in a stunning gold mini skirt, black top, Ellery belt and shoe whilst Jess Hart wore a cream leather cut out bodice with black silk tank, iivory masi skirt and Ellery shoe. Both looked stunning set to a backdrop of sheer gold curtains that hung toward the beginning of the catwalk and prompted models to weave between them as though squinting from sunlight before popping out and presenting the look itself.
Jen in total wore a total of five looks opening with Ellery, a beautiful Yeojin Bae Rose peplum waist dress (stunning!), a Magdalena Velevska green asymmetrical shift dress with shoe that had me saying ‘wow!’. She also wore a simply beautiful silver halter gown by Aurelio Costarella with Nina Ricci shoe with her final look a black sheer maxi dress with Toni Bianco shoe. Picked to match her personality, the dresses were quite simply as glamboyant as you can imagine.
Five times is the charm it appears with Jess also presenting five gorgeous looks. Opening the show in the gorgeous Ellery cream leather cut out bodice, with black silk tank and ivory maxi skirt and Ellery shoe, she then presented what could only be described as one of the most stunning looks of the night – a gold embellished mesh bodycon dress from Sassi & Bide with matching shoes. Her next look was possibly my favorite of the night – a pink floral strapless jumpsuit by Karen Walker teamed with gorgeous bracelets and shoes. Jess really had the pick of some of the outfits with another simply stunning creation from Jayson Brunsdon, a silver gown with ivory cape (wow) and shoe. Her final look was a Toni Maticevski black fringe tie top, with white maxi cut out skirt and Toni Bianco shoes.
Not to be outdone by the girls, there was plenty of fashion for the boys – led by Kris Smith who also presented four looks walking for Politix, Arthur Galan AG and Hugo Boss (amazing!).
In a snapshot, the looks were all about the 40s and 70s. Think Boardwalk Empire meets Bianca Jagger and you have the idea. Belted waists, sequins, yellow, purple, gold, white, cable knits for guys, whilst girls are either short mini skirts or elegant maxi / gowns. Lots of check with that Japanese school girl hint, whilst tweed and check were big as well. Sandshoes for boys whilst girls are still keeping it sky high in the heel region. Texture reigns supreme with feathered shoulders, sequined gowns and mini skirts and a bit of leather for good measure. Flares, pant suits and cut outs are still in for this coming season. Don’t be afraid to mix your textures and to add a bit of a vintage look to your favorite trend with a big floppy hat ala Bianca Jagger!
