Beauty Breakdown with Illamasqua from the Myer Autumn/Winter 2012 Fashion Show

Last week (August 11th), Myer presented their Autumn/Winter Collection at Myer’s newly refurbished Mural Hall in collaboration with international make up brand Illamasqua. I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with Illamasqua’s International Make up Director Claire Lille about the looks for the night and their inspiration behind the looks.

The first look created was the “Fresh Romantic” look, inspired by the 30s and 40s, which is a great Autumn/Winter look that can be recreated.   It’s a fresh dreamy romantic look with defined lashes, sculpted skin and freshly bitten rose stained lips. The skin has a velvety texture with heavy contouring to create the velvety matte look.  Lips were berry stained and eyes were matched with sculpted brows and contouring to create an androgynous look.

How to recreate the “Fresh Romantic” look:

  • Prepare the skin with Illamasqua Satin Primer for a dewy base
  • Apply SKIN BASE Foundation with your fingers
  • Contour the face by lightly brushing Heroine Eye Shadow under the cheek bone, creating structure and definition
  • Use medium pencil in Hex on the base of the eyelid and Powder Eye Shadow on the creases in Heroine to contour
  • Apply lashings of the Illamasqua Masquara for dramatic lashes
  • On the lips apply Cream Blusher in Betray as a stain and use Cream Pigment in Emerge on the center of the lip for a pretty pout.

Products Used:

  • Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in Boomerang $39.00
  • Illamasqua Lipstick in Growl $39.00
  • Illamasqua Lipstick in Maneater $39.00
  • Illamasqua Lipstick in Diablo $39.00
  • Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover $42.00
  • Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Excite $42.00
  • Illamasqua medium Pencil in Vow $33.00

Look two is the Natural Sculpted look and takes a nod towards mid century looks but updated with modern touches. Going for a very graphic look minus the retro feel that has been over done.  Again focusing ona very defined brow with a very feminine and effortless look that was romantic, dreamy and childlike. The fresh skin was created by more contouring with plum tones to give an Autumnal feel.  By mixing No.1 Skin Base (white) into the foundation you can create sculpt and contour onto the cheekbones and under the brow to create that clear matte look.

Claire also shared details of a new range coming out:

“We have a new series coming out called Human Fundamentalism (check it out here) and I’m so excited for this, it really is a range for everyone, every color skin, type of skin, men, women, everyone.

How to recreate the Natural Sculpted Look:

  • Prepare the skin with Illamasqua Satin Primer for a dewy base
  • Apply SKIN BASE Foundation with your fingers
  • Contour the cheeks by brushing Boomerang Powder Eye Shadow under the cheek bone
  • Apply Powder Blusher in Lover over the apple of the cheek

  • To create winged eye, cut Illamasqua Lashes in 14 in half and apply to out upper lid

    Hey Bronny,

It was so lovely to meet you at the Myer show. Thanks so much for your write up. The new collection is however called ‘Human Fundamentalism’ not skin realism, and you can have a sneaky peek on the Illamasqua website right now before it launches on the 15th March.

    Take care
