We spoke to Toni Pearen to talk to her about all things natural and U Little Beauty:
Sassi: What was it that resonated with you about becoming the Brand Ambassador for U Little Beauty? How’d it come about?
Toni: I\’m always in search of good natural skin and hair products. I loved the fact ULB is Australian made and owned. The brand suits my lifestyle and needs at this stage of my life, being a working mum living on the northern beaches. U little Beauty approached me and asked me to trial the products, from that moment on I was hooked!
Sassi: What was the reason for you choosing to use only natural and organic products/ingredients in your beauty regime?
Toni: Being pregnant really changed the way I lived. It made me think about everything I was using. Becoming a mum has brought out the best in me. It\’s no longer all about me!!
Sassi: What U Little Beauty products do you use on a daily basis and what do you love about them.
Toni: In the morning I use the Vitamin C Serum which is an amazing product. My skin feels so soft and invigorated. Then I use the Moisture Replenishing Facial Cream and give myself a quick face massage. At night when I\’m bathing Lucky, I love using the Facial Exfoliant after I cleanse. It really removes any impurities and feels like a mini facial. If I really want to pamper myself I\’ll apply the U Little Beauty Detox Mask or the Hydration mask. Then I\’ll lather up with the Enriching Night Cream and cross my fingers I get a full night’s sleep!
Sassi: What do you think of the thought that organic beauty products can\’t produce the same results as non-organic beauty products?
Toni: The ingredients in U Little Beauty products are all active ingredients. The Kakadu Plum, which is the main ingredient of all U little Beauty products is the richest form of vitamin C in the world. Vitamin C is vital in collagen reproduction in the skin and is a strong anti-oxidant. The formulations are based on some well-known brands but using all natural/organic ingredients. Obviously having children changes how we perceive our lives, what has been the greatest change to your outlook in life and then wanting to pass that onto your children? Keeping things simple. Children don\’t need stress or to observe it through our actions. I now value looking after myself and my family as an honorable virtue. There\’s nothing more instantly gratifying than a cuddle from your child.
Sassi: Beauty isn’t just about the outside, it’s the inside as well. Can you tell me how else you look after yourself? What’s important to you that you do each day?
Toni: Drink lots of water and have a well balanced diet with lots of fruit and veg. It\’s so easy to reach for convenient food when you\’re tired and distracted with a child so I always have the fruit bowl filled and I make lots of nutritious snacks to keep us eating well. I get lots of ideas from the website Ecomilf and scour recipe books and blogs.
Sassi: It’s hectic being a mum, how do you make sure you have some ‘time out’ for you and re-energise? Or is that just not possible right now?
Toni: As a mum you do put your needs last. I now make sure to take 5 minutes for myself when I wake. I stretch, meditate and centre myself for the day. I also force myself to exercise on the weekend when the husband and baby are resting.
Kellie from the Sassi office tested a few products from the U Little Beauty range and these are her thoughts:
Natural Volume Shampoo & Conditioner:
The natural volume shampoo and conditioner are made with wheat proteins to fortify, Aloe Vera to strengthen and Vanilla and Jasmine to make hair glossy and smell delicious. Because of the lack of chemicals in the shampoo, it is quite hard to get a good lather going, and the shampoo feels quite thick on your scalp. However, once hair is dry, it looks glossy and volumised and smells amazing. Similarly with the conditioner, the liquid is thin and runny which means it’s tricky to apply to the hair, but once dry hair feels soft and beautiful. Natural Volume Conditioner is made with natural moisturizers and doesn’t weigh hair down with too much product. 375ml RRP$14.95
Norishing Body Lotion:
The Nourishing Body Lotion is a top-to-toe moisturising product that includes Kakadu Plum extract, Macadamia and Jojoba Oils. Packaged in a handy pump bottle, the lotion is thick and luxurious, but isn\’t sticky or too heavy. It absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling soft, this is a great everyday moisturiser and we really loved it. 250gm RRP$19.95
Hydrating Facial Gel Mask:
Lastly, the Hydrating Facial Gel Mask is a quick and easy way to re-hydrate thirsty skin. With Vitamin E and Aloe Vera the key ingredients, the gel mask is cool on the face and doesn’t make the skin feel tight. Word of warning: don\’t put it too close to eyes, it stings. The mask need only be left on for 10 minutes and then followed with a moistuirser. After, skin appears visibly softer and fuller and feels hydrated. Loved this mask. 75ml RRP$29.95
