On The Crazy and Chaotic “One Direction” Red Carpet at the 2012 TV Week Logies

I really should have packed earplugs, on my prime spot on the red carpet for the 2012 Logies held last night at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, the only sound that could be heard was the screaming of tweens everywhere waiting for One Direction. The only direction I was looking was at the fashion on display on the red carpet. Some of these girls had camped out for 2 days waiting to see the boys! One girl flew from Melbourne to Sydney and back again (without mum knowing) proudly showing me her boarding pass. The hysteria was something akin to what I imagine it must have been like in The Beatles day. This set the tone for possibly one of the loudest red carpet events I have ever attended. Alex Perry, Gwendolynne, Calvin Klein, Jack London, Eli Saab, Arthur Galan, Burberry and more were all on display in frocks and suits, whilst Jan Logan and Bulgari were names regularly dropped in accessories, it was a glamboyant affair indeed!

For me, I was blown away by the simply stunning Delta Goodrem, who was ethereal in a grecian inspired Ralph Lauren gown with Bulgari accessories and Jimmy Choo shoes. My second pick was Jennifer Hawkins, who had opted for a gown by Toni Maticevski. Toni and Jen had brainstormed the outfit and decided on geometric accessories the result coming from Mawi (available online).  And isn’t Jennifer Hawkins just the loveliest person in the industry ‘I’m really excited to see Flo Rider! But I just have to say I love what SassiSam does for girls! Sam gives them the information they need and really does a great job!’.

My third pick was the always beautiful Megan Gale, looking incredibly slim line in an Alex Perry gown, she said she’d been lucky to pop into the store and grab something off the rack (every girls dream to have a bestie like Alex!), her accessories were from Bulgari. When asked about her new fitness regime Megan said “I’m doing road biking at the moment, it’s hectic, totally scary but I love it and I love the results. I’ve also been doing a lot of jogging, so it’s lots of fun.” Megan is of course returning for Season 2 of Project Runway with Alex Perry and we can’t wait to see the results from the coming season.

Speaking of Alex Perry (who looked stylish as ever with sunnies a-top his head), who could miss the stunning Charlotte Dawson who is also blessed to have him as a buddy and popped in to grab something. Charlotte as we know is about to feature on the Celebrity Apprentice and I’m sure we all hope she wins. Another Celebrity Apprentice on the carpet was the lovely Tanya Zaetta Jones who was in a Melbourne designed frock by Bellucio featuring a million hand sewn beads (stunning), shoes by Santini and accessories by Janette Maree.

Also on the carpet was the stunning Jesinta Campbell, another Sassi fan who passed her love along. Jesinta was looking statuesque and gorgeously curvacious in a dress that had a stunning cut out at back by Burberry. Kelli Smythe had styled Jesinta for the night ‘I’m really enjoying working on Mornings with David and Sonja’ she said before asking me to say “hi’ to Sam.” I was certainly feeling the love for Sassi on the red carpet – that’s for sure.

Adding a touch of fun to the red carpet were Nikolodean’s Luke and Wyatt who were up for the 3rd time for Most Outstanding Children’s Program “Camp Orange: Wrong Town”. The boys were dressed head to toe in Jack London and looked amazing whilst Wyatt had the best hair for men of the night sporting a kind of Max Headroom kind of do.

There were so many glamours on the red carpet that it was hard to get my eye on all of them, but I was lucky enough to spot Shaynna Blaze-Vaughan of Selling Houses Australia who was looking fab in Alex Perry, Tony Bianco shoes and accessories by Witang.

Then there was the lovely Laura Dundovic from Dating in the Dark (Foxtel) –  gorgeous and so sweet in Matthew Eger dress and Peter Lang accessories. Laura and I had a bit of a giggle at how raunchy the new series of Dating in the Dark is – so raunchy it had to be moved to a new time slot of 9.30pm! She said it was a bit awkward watching the first one of the new season with her Dad by her side!

Susie Edelmann always adds fun to the red carpet and this year she was actually a little understated for her usual look! The effect was great however, with plunging gown by Style and Substance and shoes and accessories by Peter Bartlett.

Magdalena Rose of Channel 10 breakfast was in Alchemy with Chironi accessories. Eddie Perfect was perfect in Jack London whilst Rob Mills cut a super stylish look in Calvin Klein, Chuckie also of Young Talent Time sported the funkiest suit ensemble with leather suit jacket and bow tie.

Lisa Wilkinson in Eli Saab was bewitched inspired and fab and who could miss the citrine ring by Louissa WOW! Dianna Gwyn was gorgeous in Gwendolynne while Rebecca Judd and Asher Keddie were stunning in J’Aton. The red carpet glamour was on high alert with so many amazing outfits and stars on the carpet that we couldn’t get to them all but special mentions go to  Carrie Bickmore, Kate Ritchie, Samara Weaving and Esther Anderson to name a few!
