Julia Roberts for Lancôme’s New Absolue L’Extrait, a Luxurious Skin Care Cream

Lancôme are releasing a luxury new ‘miracle elixir’, Absolue L\’Extrait, with Julia Roberts as the face of the campaign.  Absolue L\’Extrait contains up to 2 million Lancôme rose stem cells in each jar that come from the dedicated Lancôme Rose Research Centre. The Lancôme Rose was created in 1973 by Georges Delbard Nurseries (one of the world’s most prestigious rose specialists) and selected from over 20,000 new species and named La Rose Lancôme. Lancôme created its first specialised stem cell laboratory in 1988 which saw 10 years work to succeed in cultivating and multiplying an immortalised line of Lancôme Rose stem cells to use via a biotechnological “cocooning” technique called Fermogenesisâ„¢ to create the Absolue L\’Extrait cream today.

In concentrations of 2 million cells per jar of Absolue L\’Extrait, the Lancôme Rose stem cells bring all their life-renewing power to reactivate the visible signs of youth.  The Absolue L\’Extrait cream offers a formula with dual properties.
Thanks to the action of the Lancôme Rose stem cells on the new pool of stem cells – dermal cells – regeneration is more effective in the deeper layers. The functioning of the dermal stem cells, that is to say their capacity for self-renewal, is shown in vitro by their ability to form dermospheres. The cells from Lancôme Rose have shown to stimulate the dermal stem cells, because in their presence the number of dermospheres increases by 63% after 10 days’ culturing.

The luxurious cream is fragranced with the scent of the rose and for once the scent is not a domineering fragrance. It features notes of bergamot and pink peppercorns, a delicate heart note of roses, jasmine and freesia emerges. This is followed by the soft sensuality of woody and musk notes.

The Lancôme Rose is a subtle alchemy between a magenta and a mauve one, and has a rare and vibrant fuchsia colour. A very strong variety, it has an unusual capacity for adaptation, and today is only grown to order by its creator, in the French region of the Châteaux de la Loire, with a single annual growing season in open fields giving an annual production limited to a few thousand plants.

In 1936, Armand Petitjean created Nutrix, the first repairing cream based on proteins and vitamins, which quickly became a cult product.  So inspired by their heritage, Lancôme has turned to the first Nutrix jars, in a modern reinterpretation of the avant-garde codes of this iconic jar for the Absolue L’Extrait cream.  Absolue sits inside a genuine precious jewel-box, a protective casing hand made by craftsmen.

The luxurious Lancôme Absolue L’Extrait cream will be available in 50mL jar with an RRP$450 exclusively at selected David Jones from May 7th (Monday) and then at Myer from May 28th.
