Luxury Fashion House Valentino\’s new fragrance Valentina is a soft, white floral fragrance instilled with close to 50 years of couture history. The house’s new creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, have created a scent that is representative of the modern Valentino woman. An evanescent, magnetic individual who is similarly unpredictable and elusive, the scent is sensual but eludes conventions.

Valentino began its life in 1965 when founder Valentino Garavani opened a fashion house on Via Condotti in Rome, with the backing of his father. Rising to fame on the back the of his all white collection in 1968, the fashion house has garnered loyal followers and admirers around the globe. The first Valentino perfume, Valentino Classique, was released in 1978 and since then 11 other fragrances have been released, closing with Valentina.

Valentina was created by Chiuri and Piccioli, who were looking to redefine the Valentino woman into a freer, more daring modern woman. The modern Valentino woman “wears sleek outfits that impeccably accentuate her figure and are shaped and embellished by concealed structures, exclusive techniques and exquisite trims.” In this same vein, the perfume is inspired by the ingredients that define the femininity and uniqueness of the Valentino woman and features Freja Beha Erichsen as “Valentina.”

Beginning with notes of fresh Calabrian bergamot and white Alba truffles, the perfume is soft, fresh and powdery. Through the mid-notes of jasmine, Amalfi orange blossom and tuberose, the perfume is sweet and floral. Notes of strawberry also come to the fore, bringing a fresh sweetness. Finally the dry down scents of cedar and sensual amber give the fragrance a rich, sophisticated base.  It’s truly luxurious, you’ll want to bathe in it!

The bottle is a vision of delicate purity. The transparent crystal bottle is slightly rounded yet sleek. The bottle wears three flowers, which are emblems of Valentino couture in pale shades of white, ivory and nude. These colours featured in the most recent collections, representing the brands taste for contrasts and contradiction. The bottle is topped by a silver ring and a black pearl and comes in a white box decorated in floral motifs.
