Film Review: Ted

Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Seth MacFarlane
Sassi’s Star Rating: 4/5

Inappropriately funny, Ted follows the story of a young boy and his magical, talking teddy bear. Disclaimer: This is not a film for kids. True to director Seth MacFarlane’s style, Ted pushes the boundaries of all things politically correct, as this cute teddy bear and his boy grow up into pot smoking couch potatoes.

The beautiful Mila Kunis plays Lori, the girlfriend of John (Mark Wahlberg), and the unfortunate roommate of Ted, the bear that won’t let John grow up. Lori is keen to kick Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) out of their lives so she and John can move on, but when John refuses to get rid of his thunder buddy (you’ll know once you see it), their relationship hits the rocks.

If you discount the fact there’s a profane teddy bear, the plot line is pretty predictable and lags a bit toward the end. That said, for fans of Family Guy the sense of humour won’t let you down. Ted swears like a sailor, insults without regard, and tries to sleep with any woman – despite the fact he’s a teddy bear. Some great 80s references, cameos, and Family Guy side jokes ensures Ted to be a hit for people that secretly enjoy a perverse sense of humour.

A swearing teddy bear voiced by Seth MacFarlane – what else could a Family Guy fan ask for?

In cinemas now.
