Dolce & Gabbana have released two Limited Edition Summer Fragrances inspired by the Mediterranean for him and her; Dreaming in Portofino (her) and Living Stromboli (him) will have you packing your bags for the Italian Riveria in a flash.
“Going to Portofino is like entering a dream world” says Domenico Dolce. “For us, Portofino is a place where we can get away from the turmoil of our city life, relax, have fun and enjoy the beauty of its rocky and floral landscape.” adds Stefano Gabbana. “The scent of the air, the view and the magnificence of the place are unique.”
“We love Stromboli,” says Domenico Dolce, “The omnipresence of the active volcano and the dark, rocks that are typical of the island.” “You arrive by boat from Sicily and the island looms above you, with villages clinging to the slopes,” adds Stefano Gabbana. “The power of nature really takes your breath away.”
At the heart of the Italian Riviera lay two havens of natural beauty and glamorous style; Portofino and Stromboli, locations intrinsic to the illustrious Dolce & Gabbana heritage. These jewel destinations are locked in timeless perfection, drawing pleasure-seeking couples who dream to live the Mediterranean life: sailing, swimming, sunbathing, eating, drinking and loving.
In Portofino, faded pastel houses line the quay while yachts slowly glide in the inky blue waters. Whereas the island of Stromboli, off the north coast of Sicily, is a place of dreams, with its dramatic volcanic landscape baked by the Mediterranean sun. These unique places provide the ultimate Mediterranean escape for those who seek a never-ending moment immersed in the raw beauty of land and sea.
Dreaming in Portofino (flanker t0 2001’s Light Blue) features top notes of sun-kissed Litchi and musky Ambrette Seed that meld into rich floral tones of creamy Iris and heady Osmanthus. Resinous Amber and woody Patchouli linger, leaving behind a trace of delicate velvet aroma, imprinting an intoxicating memory of golden moments spent in timeless contemplation.
Living Stromboli (a flanker to 2007’s Light Blue Pour Homme) fuses freshness and sensuality, this innovative aquatic mineral eau de toilette is classified as ‘Woody Water’. Pure, powerful and intensely masculine, refreshing top notes of Citrus and Pink Pepper segue into crisp aquatic tones heightened by the clarity of Geranium. Smoky Amber with woody Patchouli and mossy Vetyver provide lasting resonance.
Dreaming in Portofino is a lovely light scent, that lingers on your skin feeling sun-kissed with the sweet musky fragrance that mixes with the woody undertones of woody patchouli as you lay sunning yourself on the front of a yacht as you sail around the Mediterranean. It’s a lovely day time scent that will have you reaching for fruit cocktails.
Whereas the Living Stromboli is a refreshing male scent that leaves a smokey trail of citrus, pink pepper and woody patchouli, that is soft and masculine at the same time and is deliciously yummy and will whisk you away to the cliff side of Stromboli, bodies entwined as you inhale the fresh scent of the salty sea. If you are a bit impartial like I am for citrus scents, you might like to wear this yourself.
The campaign stars Anna Jagodzinska alongside David Gandy as photographed by Mario Testino depicting a romantic interlude featuring the lovers reclining in a boat, the dazzling blue water all around, the true depiction of Dreaming in Portofino:
“It felt so romantic, just being there on the sea, in the sun – just the two of us,” says Anna.
“For me, Light Blue is about escaping with someone you love, to a place and time that becomes fixed in your memory forever, a magical moment,” says David.
