Myer Ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith tonight (August 16th) launched the Myer Spring/Summer 2013 Collections at Hordern Pavilion in a parade that showcased over 170 new season looks by Myer’s leading stable of Australian designers.
The show drew inspiration from the diverse landscapes of Pilansberg National Park in South Africa where the advertising campaign was shot earlier this year. Ranging from lush forests, soaring mountains, stony deserts, verdant grasslands and African savannahs, tonight’s show took everyone on an adventure to the land of light and colour with warm sunsets, vibrant and exotic animals and a culture rich in pattern and print that support the dominant theme of colour this Spring Summer 2013 season.
The launch played out in an intimate circular catwalk below a suspended abstract landscape constructed from thousands of individual rope lengths that hovered high above the audience transforming the space and creating a journey to South Africa.
Jennifer made a stunning entrance in Toni Maticevski to open the show alongside six models wearing custom made designs created by Myer’s talented designers with fabric imported from the shoot in South Africa. The additional designers in the spectacular opening section were Jayson Brunsdon, Fleur Wood, Ellery, Aurelio Costarella, sass & bide and Manning Cartell.
Jennifer also wore gorgeous designs from Ellery, Manning Cartell, Cozi and Aurelio Costarella.
Kris Smith appeared on the catwalk four times showcasing leading Myer menswear brands Arthur Galan AG, Dom Bagnato, Blaq and renowned Australian swimwear label Speedo.
Aurelio Costarella closed the show to a breathtaking and emotionally stirring live performance by Brisbane born artist, Emma Louise singing her latest single ‘Jungle’.
